Glossary

Acetate
Acetate is composed by filaments derived from cellulose.

Acrylic
The acrylic fiber is made up of macromolecules, mainly of acrylonitrile, typically used as a staple in pure form or blended with wool or cotton.

Cotton
Cotton is the most common fiber plant in the world, the capsule is a bushy plant.

Cupro
Cupro fiber is made from cotton linters treated according to the process cuprammonio, produced as a continuous thread.

Natural fiber
Fibers are drawn from materials found in nature and used by machining, but without changing its structure.

Artificial
Artificial fibers are obtained by treating natural cellulose of different plants (which is the same vegetable fibers), suitably transformed and dissolved with solvents.

Man-made fibers
Artificial fibers and synthetic fibers are created by physical-chemical industrial processes, from raw materials found in nature.

Filoscozia
The filoscozia cotton yarn is a hypoallergenic, antibacterial and hygroscopic.

Lana
Wool is the most common and important animal fiber, which is the level of various breeds of sheep.

Linen
Linen is the oldest and most precious natural fiber taken from the "book" (cortical layer) of a herbaceous plant.

Lyocell
Lyocell is a cellulosic fiber obtained by spinning process in organic solvent while protecting the environment.

Modacrylic
The modacrylic fiber is made from macromolecules consist of at least 50% acrylonitrile, generally available as a staple.

Modal
Modal, viscose staple a modified, with better characteristics for its use (for example, toughness, to form moist, dimensional stability, alkali resistance) obtained with the micro Modal 1.0 dtex.

Nylon
The polyamide fiber is obtained from macromolecules containing amino group, the first synthetic fiber, also known as nylon.

Polyester
Polyester is a fiber made from macromolecules consisting pietilentereftalato, available both as a staple and as a smooth edge or volumizing.

Polypropylene
The polypropylene fiber is made from macromolecules of isotactic polypropylene, available as staple and continuous filament as a smooth and volumizing.

Polyurethane (spandex)
The fiber is a polyurethane elastomer containing at least 85% of the mass of a segmented polyurethane, produced as a continuous thread.

Silk
Silk is the only animal fiber, produced by insects, considered synonymous with luxury since ancient times.

Viscose
Viscose is a cellulose fiber as a filament or spun staple fibers (also known as rayon).
